Are your Flashtubes and Domes the same quality/color as the replacement glass someone would purchase directly from the lighting manufacturer?

Yes. Our products are made of the same quality as the leading lighting manufacturers and are often of higher quality with better efficiency. Light output and electrical features match the original flashtubes. Domes are coated to reach an identical color temperature as the originals.

Why are the Profoto domes 3 to 5mm larger than the originals?

We found that adding 3 to 5mm to each dome size (making them 80mm and 103mm compared to 75mm and 100mm originals) provides a larger internal volume, effectively reducing the heat and creating a more accessible modeling lamp, mitigating damage to domes when plugging or unplugging from the head.

 

 

Why is there a metal rim on Broncolor Domes?

We found Broncolor domes fractured at the base when domes or modifiers were removed. To reduce the potential for damage and strengthen the dome, they added a metal rim to ensure their domes would not break from the bottom.

 

Why are there elongated holes on Broncolor as opposed to small circular holes?

 Domes are designed with long slits as opposed to holes allowing a more efficient cooling method without compromising quality.
